Product Description

For medium breeds such as French Lops etc.…This 4ft large double hutch is made from Redwood and has exterior graded hardwood ply base panels.
This hutch is based on our British Giant range but is a deeper hutch which has been extended from 25” to 32”
The roof is boarded with the same shiplap as the hutch and is constructed on the same principle as the traditional roof on a domestic house. Beneath the boarding is a breathable water proof membrane to ensure a watertight construction. The roof also has a 3” (75mm) overhang to all sides.
The hutch is constructed from Swedish Redwood and is cladded on the outside with 12mm shiplap. The door frames are made out of a substantial 34mm x 46mm section and comes with a slightly smaller solid boarded doors on the left and larger wire doors on the right. The left hand side of the top hutch is designated as the sleeping area and there is an internal divider that can easily be removed. There is a ramp to the lower level which is an open area.
The boarded doors come with black tower bolts as well as turn buttons for added security. The wire doors come with spring loaded catches and turn buttons as standard.
This hutch is made entirely in The United Kingdom by us and is not sold by any other company.
There are many variations of this hutch on the website to suit your budget and available space such as with a run. The size of run can vary to your preference in terms of length. Please contact us if you have any bespoke requirements as we are able to accommodate this during the construction stage.
This is a superior quality and well-constructed hutch offering over 40 cubic feet of living space.
The hutch is illustrated in standard preservative.

Options you can choose

Hinged Roof . Roof can be hinged along one of the long sides.  Includes a hasp and staple so as the roof can be locked down.

Animal Shelter. This can be placed in the run so as to provide a safe area for your pet to hide if it is startled. Normally £34.95 but is reduced to £22.95 if purchased with your hutch. Just ask!

Winter Inset Panel. This is a panel that is made to fit in the frame of the wire doors. It is a pop in pop out panel that can be put in place at night or on rainy cold days. Will make your pet feel less stressed when predatory animals are about.

Tanalising. This is where your hutch is made and sent away to a specialist centre for pressure treatment. It is placed in a sealed tank and the preservative is pumped deep into the timber fibres at high pressure. Pressure Treatment Options

For maximum protection, we can tanalise your product (a form of pressure treatment) to help give you up to 10 years without the worry from dry rot and normal decay typical to all outdoor wooden furniture. Click here to find out more.

Maintenance

All our products are finished with a Teak water based (non toxic) preservative. The timber should be re-coated with an equivalent preservative every year to ensure the maximum life span of the product.

Oil based coatings are the best as they tend to repel water before it penetrates the timber fibers.

Re-coating is best undertaken on a warm dry day or even better after a dry spell when the timber has had time to dry enough to absorb the coating you are applying.

Additional Protection

Here’s a bit of a tip – get yourself an atomizer spray!

Get yourself an atomizer spray – the sort you do your indoor plant leaves with. Most DIY shops sell what’s called a waterproofing agent. Thompson’s Water seal is a brand name but “B&Q” do their own brand.

Fill the atomizer with it and spray over the external surfaces of the product a couple of times a year. It’s really quick and easy. Don’t forget to wear appropriate mask and gloves. Follow the Health and safety instructions on the container.
